KIEV, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said on Thursday that his country is expecting to receive 500 million euro (about 572 million U.S. dollars) in aid from the European Union in the coming weeks.
According to the Ukrainian government-run Ukrinform news agency, Poroshenko made the remarks after his meeting with European Commission Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis in Helsinki, the capital of Finland.
Later in the day, the presidential administration said that Ukraine has "almost completed" all six preconditions for obtaining the assistance.
In mid-September, the European Commission has approved new aid for Ukraine worth 1 billion euro (about 1.14 billion dollars) to support economic stabilization in the country, including through structural and governance reforms.
Since the Ukraine crisis in 2014, the EU has provided Kiev with aid worth 2.8 billion euro (about 3.2 billion dollars).
