LONDON, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- The mercury is set to soar as high as 28 degrees Celsius next week as scorching temperatures return to London and the south east, according to latest British weather forecast.
But first the remnants of subtropical Storm Ernesto are due to blow into the UK, bringing heavy rain across the north, and cloudy skies to the British capital.
The last of the cyclone, formed earlier this week in the north Atlantic, is due to hit parts of Britain late on Saturday bringing wind and rain overnight.
Met Office forecaster Martin Bowles said that Londoners should expect sunshine and rising temperatures next week.
The forecaster said temperatures will spike to 25 degrees Celsius in London over the weekend as the tail-end of Storm Ernesto hits parts of the UK.
Those living in the north are likely to be worst affected by the weather system.
