DUBAI, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has cancelled flights from its home airport to and from China's Hong Kong on Saturday and Sunday as super typhoon Mangkhut approaches the region, UAE daily Gulf news reported on Friday.
Etihad's flight EY834 from Abu Dhabi to Hong Kong on Saturday (Sept. 15) has been cancelled, said the report.
The same applies to the EY33 inbound flight from Hong Kong to the UAE capital Abu Dhabi on Sunday, Gulf news cited a spokesperson of the Abu Dhabi Etihad as saying.
As super typhoon Mangkhut is approaching, China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government has made all the necessary preparations for it, HKSAR's Chief Executive Carrie Lam said on Friday.
According to the Hong Kong Observatory, the weather in Hong Kong will turn bad significantly on Sunday.
