BUENOS AIRES, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Argentina will help strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, said Chinese Ambassador to Argentina Yang Wanming.
Xi will pay a state visit to Argentina and attend the 13th Group of 20 (G20) summit in Buenos Aires during his Europe and Latin America trip from Nov. 27 to Dec. 5, which also takes him to Spain, Panama and Portugal.
The visit is a big event in the development of the China-Argentina and China-Latin America relations, which will also have a great impact on global economic governance, Yang said.
He said that in recent years, China's relations with Argentina and Latin America have witnessed a rapid development and yielded fruitful results in bilateral and multilateral cooperation in various fields.
The China-Latin America and China-Argentina friendships hold a special place in the hearts of the peoples of the countries concerned, Yang added.
Argentina is a major Latin American country and an important emerging market. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries 46 years ago, bilateral relations have developed rapidly, Yang said.
This will be Xi's first visit to Latin America after the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in October 2017 and his second state visit to Argentina, Yang said.
According to the ambassador, Xi will hold talks with his Argentine counterpart Mauricio Macri, make new strategic plans for the development of bilateral relations, promote pragmatic cooperation and exchange views on international and regional issues of common concern.
The two sides will also explore how to further strengthen cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and jointly promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, Yang said.
Yang also said that during Xi's visit, the two sides will issue a joint statement and sign a joint action plan between the two governments, as well as a number of cooperation agreements in such fields as economy, trade, finance and public security.
It is believed that Xi's visit will provide a new direction for the two countries to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields in the future, which will surely become a new milestone in the development of bilateral relations, said Yang.
When talking about the G20 summit in Buenos Aires, Yang said that the G20 is a major forum on international economic cooperation. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the G20 summit mechanism, which is of great significance for the Buenos Aires summit to be held in this context, he said.
China attaches great importance to the G20 mechanism and firmly supports Argentina in hosting the summit, Yang said.
