TOKYO, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Monday as investors took their cues from a positive lead late last week on Wall Street, with sentient bolstered by eased concerns about the global economic outlook.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 303.22 points, or 1.43 percent, from Friday to close the day at 21,509.03.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 24.17 points, or 1.52 percent, to finish at 1,615.81.
Oil and coal product, iron and steel, and metal product-oriented issues comprised those that gained the most by the close of play.
