TOKYO, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Tuesday tracking gains on Wall Street overnight, with sentiment lifted by solid manufacturing data from the United States and China.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 127.25 points, or 0.59 percent, from Monday to 21,636.28.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 7.92 points, or 0.49 percent, at 1,623.73.
Marine transportation, nonferrous metal, and iron and steel-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
