WUHAN, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- Leonid Ekimov of Russia edged Pavlo Korostylov of Ukraine by one point to claim the 25m military rapid fire pistol men's individual title here on Sunday.
The two-time 10m air pistol European champion was three points behind temporary leader Korostylov after the first two positions, but the 2018 world 25m standard pistol champion shot for only 94 points in series 1 of the six seconds position while 32-year-old Ekimov had 99 and clinched the gold medal with a total score of 590 points.
"It was a tough competition. The whole competition was pretty tense. I was able to relax only after the last shot," Ekimov said.
"I'm happy to win the gold medal," said the veteran, adding that it was a pity he had only a silver in 25m military rapid fire pistol of team event with Russia.
Korostylov (589) had to settle for a silver while Tomas Tehan of Czech Republic (586) bagged the bronze medal.
However, the Ukrainians did not have to wait for long to step on top of the podium as they triumphed in 50m rifle prone women's team final with an event-record 1867.4 points. Norway came second with 1861.5 while host China sat third only 0.2 points behind.
